A Vote for Property Rights

Harrah_winAs of 9:20 p.m. without all the precincts reporting, it looks like much ado about nothing in Santa Ana. The results say it all - from the comfort of their homes, Santa Ana voters supported their own property rights.

Congratulations Mike Harrah and Dennis DeSnoo. Thanks to Steve Greenhut for putting the right perspective on all of this.

What's interesting is that if you talked with guys like Jeff Dickman (one of the Anti-A nimby's) about growth and development generally, he'd probably line up with the New Urbanists Greenhut's been writing about lately. Those are the suburbanites that thinks cities should be rebuilt with high-rise, mixed-use developments. That way, people can be less reliant on cars and use more public transit. Sounds more like central planning to me.

Or maybe it's just better when it's in Irvine?

Update (11:43 p.m.): Here's the OC Register story.
