More On The Jose Solorio Resignation Rumor
Following up on the Jose-Solorio-will-resign-and-be-replaced-tonight rumor, I e-mailed Santa Ana Councilman Jose Solorio last night:
Jose:
There's a rumor going around that you are going to resign your council tonight. Is that true?
If so, is the second part of the rumor -- that a replacement will be appointed -- also true?
Solorio responded later that evening:
Not true. I will most likely remain on Council until Dec. 3. My swearing-in for the Assembly is Dec. 4.
JS
And what does "most likely" REALLY mean?

Coto Resident,
Good point. Also, I am told that Solorio and Bustamante will be at the "emergency meeting" on Thursday. They need to skip the meeting - there is nothing "emergency" about it. If Solorio and Bustamante go along with Pulido's scheme, the voters will remember this for a long time. Bustamante in particular needs to tread carefully. He is up for re-election in two years - and that time will pass very quickly.

Mr. Pedroza:
Do you really believe that there is a realistic chance Carlos won't be elected? I know he's a Dem in Republican clothing, but as an incumbent he'd be hard to beat.

I understand that dinner for Bustamonte and his buddies on the council at the non-meeting special meeting was provided by tax payers via Togo's Sandwitches. I believe that when former Councilmember Lisa Mills was on the council the Charter was amended to prohibit ANY food being provided at Council meetings. At that time Dan Young and Dan Grissett and company used to have grand multi-course feasts. I'm pretty sure the charter says no food. Why should the City Council and City Staff get food if the public who is paying for it does not..epecially if the charter says it's illegal. Maybe we can ask video guy George Collins to tape these dinners and then take it to the D.A. and ask what he thinks? I don't think paid hack and city attorney Joey Fletcher will do anything about it.

Bustamonte can be beat if he has a real opponent this time and he has to defend his lack of leadership.

Wouldn't it be interesting to do a public records request for cell phone and blackberry records for the council during the last few weeks. Might turn up some interesting non-city use of those items.

This wasn't a "rumor" it was another Art Pedroza "fact" from a "reliable source" that somehow manages to always have Tim Whitacre conected to it. Pedroza is Semper lying.

I understand the deal they cut with SEIU, Police and Fire Unions is 2.75% at age 50 for all non-sworn police & fire employees (they sworn in both groups get 3%!) and also 2.75 for all other city employees at retirement!!! How can an already broke city like Santa Ana afford this? Where's our John Moorlock to stand up to this madness? If you think that right now we have no money now for basic city services like street repair parks, and libraries, wait until they pass this tomorrow night!

My understanding is it's also other "goodies" the fire guys want in addition to the raise. I'm not sure what they are but you can bet they cost the taxpayers money! While the rest of us in Santa Ana are trying to make sure we don't have to eat cat food in retirement your firefighters who make well over $100,000 per year are buying up rental properties and vacation homes out of state. Is it any wonder that whenever one of these positions open up there are waiting lists of 500 guys who want to apply???

Maybe Tim Whitacre can rush uptown to the Fire Benevolent Assoc and ask Debbie for us.
I'll bet it's posted on that Marlite board just waiting for Tim to stop by.
Debbie just posted the terms of the new payback contract at www.pulidopayback.com
