Filing-O-Rama At The OC Registrar
It's been a busy day at the OC Registrar of Voters todays, as candidate troupe down to pull papers for the opportunity to be an Orange County Supervisor!
Garden Grove Mayor Pro Tem Mark Rosen pulled papers, as did Garden Grove School District Trustee Trung Nguyen (accompanied by Assemblyman Van Tran staffer Truong Diep).
Also pulling papers was a Phu Nguyen, who sources tell me is motivated by a distaste for Garden Grove Councilwoman Janet Nguyen. I'm guessing this is the same Phu Nguyen quoted in an Oct. 25 LA Times article on the Tan Nguyen letter, and identified as "vice presid
ent of the Vietnamese American Community of Southern California and no relation to Tan Nguyen..." Phu, as the presumably hip youth candidate, has a MySpace page -- the Commonwealth of Phutopia. He's also a Mater Dei graduate -- but I won't pre-judge him. I found the above photo of Phu with Lou Correa on Lou's campaign website. That's Phu on the right.
Santa Ana Councilwoman Claudia Alvarez pulled papers on Friday.
And let us not forget the irrepressible Will B. King, who also pulled papers today.
looks like janet may be the one to drop out. to many nguyens amke a loss. save your money and run against sanchez next year.

The Orange County Young Republicans will be entertaining arguments for our endorsement of BOS candidates this evening at our general meeting. The meeting will begin at 7:00 PM. Visit www.ocyr.org for the meeting location.

Will OCYR's be endorsing tonight? Or just letting candidate make their pitch?
Wouldn't it be wiser to wait until filing closes and we know what the final field of candidates is?

Are bylaws allow for a motion to endorse and a vote to occur this evening because this is a Special Election.
Normally, motions for endorsements are automatically tabled until the next meeting for discussion and vote.

Phu has distaste towards Van and Trung because of the conflict with VSA you might want to check with your sources

And how does having distaste for Van and Trung also rule out having distaste for Janet?

Does anyone know what the Guiness record is for the greatest number of candidates named Nguyen running for the same position?

You will find out when you talk to him

This is the clown car of elections. It gives Will B. King an actual shot.

Kinda makes you long for the days of Gubernatorial appointment of replacements, don't it?

It's about time a Central O.C. BOS district has a rich candidate like the South O.C. districts!

Carlos runs the risk spending his $$$ on the BOS race and then if he has a poor showing, drawing lots of comp. for his re-election in 2 years. I don't think he will file.

Jubal.
You right! Many candidates, elected officials, and voters have recently developed a great distaste for Janet Nguyen.
Now, can all these people be wrong?
I know, lets ask everybody who doesn't have a financial interests if they dislike opportunistic political candidate Janet Nguyen.

Does anybody think the drafters of our charter made a mistake by not including a runoff election if no candidate gets 50%?

Jubal who are you backing for the BOS? Have you decided yet? Which candidate are you leaning towards if any?
