1st SD Special Election: Predictions Contest!

It's time for that beloved Red County/OC Blog tradition -- the election prediction contest.

This one will be fairly straightfoward, given the ballot. Simply list the candidates and the percentage you predict they'll receive.

You must list all the candidates on the ballot...and the carry the percentage out at least one decimal place (.0 is fine).

We have a fine prize bundle for the winning prognosticator:

This handsome Red County/OC Blog coffee mug...

Red_county_mug

...and, appropriately enough, a trusty Magic 8-Ball to guide you in making important life decisions...

Good luck...and remember: any predictions posted after 8:00 p.m.will be disqualified!

It looks like most respondents are predicting a close race between Umberg and the commentator's favorite candidate.

If their predictions are correct, nobody will be drinking out of the OC Blog mug for quite some time as the Registrar labors through his post-election reviews of late absentee and provisional ballots.

Could this election be another Correa-Daucher squeaker?

I don't think so, but others obviously disagree.

My prediction is that Tom gets 55% of the Democratic vote, 15 % of the Republican vote and 40% of the "other" vote. That gives him about 33% overall.

Nobody else will be above 25%.

I'm going to stick with my original prediction of Tom Umberg to win. Great job Matt of OC Blog's wall to wall coverage of this race. You went beyond the call of duty. It's certainly a brave new world when it comes to campaign reporting with blogs.

Because you hate me so much Jubal, I want to take that Mug from you. :-)

Joking aside, great coverage on this race. I found myself, as you already know, checking this blog about a dozen times a day in the past month or so.

Here is my first OC Blog prediction:

Lupe Moreno 0.7

LUPE MORENO 0.2%
BENNY DIAZ 0.6%
MARK ROSEN 17.0%
JANET NGUYEN 20.5%
TRUNG NGUYEN 9.5%

Looks like this one defied the conventional wisdom all around - I know we have to wait for the final count. No one looks close.
