It's Small County, Santa Barbara Edition

It's already been reported that Bob MacLeod, the general manager of the Association of Orange County Deputy Sheriffs, will be going to work for Santa Barbara County to negotiate with the employee unions on behalf of the county government.

The role reverse is odd enough. But there's an added twist that hasn't been reported (as far as I know): the county human resources director for whom MacLeod will be working is none other than Susan Paul -- who used to be the county's chief labor negotiator. In fact, it was Paul and MacLeod who negotiated the labor agreement that gave the deputies the 3%-at-50 that then-Assemblyman Lou Correa's legislation permitted, and the BOS approved.

It's a small world of county governments after all.
