Sorry, why is this NOT a problem?

I am extremely curious as to what happened with the Irvine City Blah Blah Blah I.E. Committee recently.  Here's the back-story, fyi: http://www.ocblog.net/ocblog/2007/02/antibustamante_.html

Why do I care?  Personally, I contributed to that committee for one reason: to help my friend's race for Mayor of Irvine last November.

Was my contribution even spent for its intended purpose?  Did those dollars instead go toward a mailer full of lies, one that bashed a fellow Republican in a completely separate race months later?

I'm sure there's a simple explanation for what has gone on since, but am I wrong for wanting to learn what it is?  I assure you I'm not the only contributor to that I.E. who wants to know.

Oh, how about the big secret regarding who called to change the treasurer on that committee?  It really doesn't seem all that mysterious.  Certainly, any of us who contributed could easily start making some very public, very educated guesses in that regard.

Like I said, there's probably a very simple explanation; I'm just anxious to hear what it is.

As I understand it this independant committee did 2 mailings against Bustamante. So who was is charge of this committee when it was used to try to defeat Larry Agran?

Matt was working on getting the information so he could post it here. I, for one, would also like to hear the story of who decided to use this PAC for another purpose. I'd also be interested in knowing if the leftover $$ was used with the permission of any of the contributors.

To "Questions:" I do, of course, know exactly who was in charge of the original committee. In case there's a harmless explanation, a number of us are trying to contain our budding outrage, so we're anxious to hear from the person.

If we don't, you'll likely read that name here in the near future.

Matt -- Chuck DeVore and I had an entire strong devoted to this issue where he defended this practice. Perhaps you can dig up the links for old Chip here and let Senator McCarthy..er, Mr. DeVore know that Chip proves me right on this one....
