Team Trung To Re-File Recount Appeal Next Week

I spoke with OC power broker and Team Trung attorney Mike Schroeder earlier this morning about the where the Trung appeal goes from here in the wake of the state appellate court's rejection of their writ request.

Mike sounded undaunted by the appellate court decision and said he'll re-file the appeal next week. The only difference, he said, is that instead of obtaining an appeals court decision on Judge Brenner's ruling in a matter of days via the emergency appeal route, Team Trung will have get a ruling within 45-90 days of the re-filing through the expedited appeals process.

Unlike the writ request, the appellate court has no discretion on whether or not to hear the expedited appeal.

Trung might want to find himself a better lawyer if he is going to continue to push this. He was ahead and on his way to the BOS before he hired his current legal team.

Trung Nguyen need to wake up. Mike Schroeder is playing poker at Trung's expenses. I think Mike could not stand another lost. He lost once before (Dornan vs Sanchez).

This is like groundhog day.

Is Trung done as a politician? How else could one explain the way he's going on with this attack?

It must be a very bitter pill to come so close to pulling off a great upset only to come up 3 votes short. I don't think anybody in OC politics today could understand the pain he must have felt. That said, enough already!
Trung is an ok guy, a bit mislead by his people, but an ok guy. Why he is letting whatever political future he may have had be screwed by bad legal advice is beyond comprehension.
Voters will respect Trung if he does the "honorable" thing and moves on. It is hard to see him at events without a sense of pity, and questions about his judgement.

p.s. Matt, why do posts on "OC Weekly Dumps on Tran" continue to pop up? Its like the recount challenges, it just won't go away.

It's comment spam -- the blogosphere equivalent to e-mail spam. It tends to target old blog posts. That's why we have commenters type in those verification letters -- to stop comment spam robots (it works most of the time).

I hadn't noticed these examples -- I didn't write that post, and so don't get automatic e-mail notification when a comment appears.

Thanks for pointing it out -- now I can take care ot it.
