Dave Rudat Set To Be The New Los Alamitos City Manager

I heard earlier this afternoon that Los Alamitos had settled on hiring former Orange City Manager Dave Rudat and was negotiating the terms with him.

As readers recall, Dave Rudat is the husband of Carol Rudat and her unsettlingly ferocious ambition to be an Orange Councilwoman. The 25-year Newport Beach residents they registered to vote at a one-bedroom bungalow in Old Towne Orange (their son Brandon is listed as the owner) in which they didn't live, and Carol's carpet-bagging almost led to Judge James Gray ending her candidacy. You can read the whole weird saga in our vast Carol Rudat archive.

Dave was canned as Orange City Manager in 2005 (I believe he was OC's highest paid city manager at the time). The late Councilman Steve Ambriz's role in getting rid of Dave Rudat spurred wife Carol's revenge run for Orange Council in 2006.

Since then, Dave served a stint as Deputy County CEO, and was rumored to have been considered for the general manager job at OC Sanitation District in the wake of the controversial Blake Anderson's departure.

I don't know what kind of salary Los Alamitos is offering Rudat, it will certainly handsomely augment the $153,000 annual pension Rudat is currently pulling down.

Meanwhile, Carol Rudat hasn't stopped running for Orange City Council. She could be seen the city's Concerts in the Park at Hart Park this summer, working the crowd clad in her Rudat for Council t-shirt and clutching her three chihuahuas.

The Los Al councilmembers might want to get assurances Dave won't ask for a leave-of-absence to help with Carol's campaign next year.

Great news dave but how will you have time to practice climbing ladders and helping your daughter find good places to hide in the bushes while making secret videos with this new job? This could really cut into your youtube film career!

Poisonous weeds. Dave and Carol need a powerful dose of herbicide - figuratively speaking, of course. It's hard to believe Los Alamitos can't find a decent applicant for this job.

Does Los Alamitos have a campaign sign ordinance?

I am looking forward to seeing how Dave will mess up Los Al. I wonder if he and his wonderful wife will get involved in another trash scandle that costs the city millions? Will Carol try and run for their city council? I guess Los Al does not conduct a background investigation because if they had there is no way he would have been hired.

Good thing Dave was hired somewhere - the Orange campaign cost them a lot of money and the next one will cost her even more. Pretty expensive hobby Carol. Especially for something you are never going to win. Happy spending!

I can't believe the City of Los Alamitos would hire this guy. For god sakes he plead guilty to public corruption and was heavily fined by the State.

Rudat is a perfect match for the council majority led by the novice Councilman (egomaniac) Troy Edgar in Los Alamitos, followed up by Councilwoman Gerri Mejia who's true occupation is as a manicurist, along with matching intellectual abilities to match, yes it's really true. I'm sure Carol and her lovely dogs will benefit by the nail buffing and trimming of Councilwoman Mejia.

Hopefully we in Orange will have a good send off of the Rudat's to Los Alamitos, of which the City Council is clearly devoid of morals, values & brains!

Why are you people so nasty?

Actually, the Egomaniac voted against Rudat

Don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant!
