Under Sheriff Jo Ann Galisky will take Temporary Command
Under Sheriff Jo Ann Galisky will take command of the Sheriff's Department while her boss, Michael Carona, fight against his corruption charges in court. Carona will be available on important policy decision but the day-to-day operation will be on the shoulder of Jo Ann Galisky who has been with the department since 1984.
UPDATE (5:00 PM): Total Buzz just posted that Mike Schroeder is disputing an earlier report that Mike Carona will give up his day-to-day oversight of OCSD, which is something totally opposite of what Supervisor Bill Campbell claimed after his meeting with the embattled Sheriff this morning.
THE PEOPLE ACCEPT NO LESS THAN THE IMMEDIATE RESIGNATION AND EXITOF CROOK CARONA

Not Carona, but obviously appointed by him, and she has to of known what he was doing. Okay for now, but outsider needs to come in.

So do we still have to pay Carona?

Great choice to take the reigns. She is a proven outstanding leader with an extraordinary moral compass.

ODE TO CARONA (revised)
You are clownlike, happiest on your hands, feet to the stars, and moon-skulled, gilled like a fish.
A common-sense thumbs-down on the dodo's mode. Wrapped up in yourself like a spool, trawling your dark, as owls do.
Mute as a turnip from the Fourth Of July to All Fools' Day, O high-riser, my little loaf.
Vague as fog and looked for like mail.
Farther off than Pau Pau Guana. Bent-backed Atlas, our traveled prawn.
Snug as a bud and at home Like a sprat in a pickle jug.
A creel of eels, all ripples.
Jumpy as a Mexican bean.
Right, like a well-done sum.
A clean slate, with your own face, for your Puppet Master is lost never to race.

Eddie, you have to be kidding me. Galisky? She is even worse!

Galisky is a very good choice to take temporary command. She is very bright, a tireless worker, and cares deeply about the OCSD.

The LiberalOC reports of Galisky: "Galisky, long the highest-ranking female in the department, will now be at the top. She was born and raised in Southern California and currently lives in Orange with her longtime partner."
History is being made as I believe this is the first openly gay Sheriff in the O.C.! You go Girl!

Galisky is a bad choice. Being so close to the top she had to have had a whiff of what Carona was up to and for her to be silent is just as bad.

No one has mentioned yet that Jo Ann made her way up to her lofty position on only a GED!
That ought to make the people of the OC feel better.
They make the rest of us feel guilty for attempting to promote to sergeant without a degree, and then promote her to where she is!

What kind of despicable excuse for a human being celebrates the death of a deputy as a financial windfall? How pathetic.

The men and women of the OC Sheriff's Department deserve better. Sheriff Corona needs to resign immediately and the BOS need to bring in a qualified candidate from the outside whose integrity, leadership ability and talents are unquestionable. All house people were handpicked by Corona and cannot be trusted to do anything diffently than their boss. Law enforcement needs quality. Perhaps OC should look to the leadership in LA County to set the tone.

JoAnn Galisky is an excellent choice for the temporary replacement of Mike Carona. She is extremely intelligent and one would have a hard time finding someone more dedicated to the department.

The state AG should be contacted and brought in on this corruption case. He can take charge of this department and make sure it is run correctly.

I'm still chasing you.
Orangeman,
lol. This is a FEDERAL CASE not a state case. The sheriff's department isn't doing the invesigation on it. I'm not an attorney and even I can figure this out after reading this two sections. Good try though

Saw her interview with the Register and also went to the OCSD press conference. She appears to be extremely competent and seems to want what's best for the department.
she has my vote.

Undersheriff Galisky is the perfect choice and fit for her temporary position leading the men and women of the Orange County Sheriff-Coroner Department. Her years of experience and the peer support and respect she has earned has displayed itself in her every effort. Her leadership skills are unquestionable and at every progressive level she has displayed outstanding empathy and support for her people. Those who want to whine about her should probably talk to her.
Unlike the previous administration under Brad Gates, operation by fear and intimidation is not her way of doing things. Of course there will always be small factions of baseless wanton gossipers, but she will serve her people and the county well.
To those whiners who want to complain about her GED; stop the crying you big babies and show some discipline. Get your degree and be done with it. There are several diploma mills in the area that will pump out a meaningless Bachelor's Degree for the right price. JoAnn earned everything she has solely upon merit and without any fancy degrees. There is nothing wrong with her expecting that her people have one though. That is not hypocrisy; that's motivational standards.
